Note: We have been approached several times over the last week and asked about a 'vacancy' advertised on Glassdoor. We do not use Glassdoor and are not currently hiring or advertising any roles. When we do hire we run all interviews in-person at our offices: we would never conduct job interviews by text or email. Please be careful out there, people. If you have doubts about a position, then consider reporting it to your State Attorney General. There's a story here written by USA Today about how to spot potential job scams which could be worth a read.

Me, Digital Equipment Corporation and dinosaurs

“It’s hard to accept dinosaurs as a success when they are all dead” – Robert T Bakker, The Dinosaur Heresies Digital Equipment Corporation, or DEC, was the first tech vendor I worked with. Based out of Maynard, Massachusetts it was founded in 1957 by Ken Olsen and... read more

Networking and crowdfunding: Go and meet your crowd

In a previous post we talked about the need to get clear and consistent in terms of your campaign’s purpose; the audiences you want to serve; your vision and how you plan to deliver. One of the most frustrating things about launching a new business, project or product... read more

Find your vision (before you find your crowd)

When you are planning any kind of product launch – whether crowdfunded or not – it’s important that you are honest about what your company actually does. Sounds simple doesn’t it? Yet not every business or crowdfunding campaign is really clear... read more

Use your vision within your PR (and your business)

Many companies get overly worked-up over the definitions of ‘vision’ and ‘mission’. They spend hours, even days, discussing the specifics and still forget to lead from their vision. In fact many tech vendors have beautifully-crafted vision and... read more

Why PR suits technology – and technology suits PR

“If I had two dollars left, I would spend one on PR.”  This quote is frequently attributed to Bill Gates, and although I have never found a specific source for it, I’d like to believe he actually said it. I’ll have to assign it to the category ‘hearsay’... read more

What we do (and how we do it)

Prompt was founded in London in 2002 and in Boston in 2006.  Once upon a time we were a ‘traditional’ public relations and copywriting firm, designing and delivering programs to Adobe, Dell IBM, Oracle Corporation, Thomson Reuters.  We continue to help technology vendors – of all kinds and all stages of growth – to communicate their vision and the benefits of products and your services to the people who matter through PR, media relations, copywriting, list-building, and analyst relations, but now we do this primarily through coaching – sharing our technology-specific insight, skills and experience.

Today we help startups to design and manage list-building, crowdfunding and PR programs whether it’s to share their vision, increase visibility, get funding or to drive sales (or all of the above).

We help technology marketers and entrepreneurs who are frustrated with lack of visibility or number of sales, so they can increase visibility, engagement with prospects and sales.

Consistently, intelligently and deliberately list-building increases engagement, opportunities and sales. Which is why, in our comprehensive Tribalist program, we show technology marketers and technology entrepreneurs how to do just that.

Our ‘Increase Impact, Visibility & Coverage’ program is a three-month intensive PR coaching program for technology vendors that want to add to the skills and expertise of their internal teams to drive PR results.

“Having worked in high growth start ups requiring strong media relationships, coverage and thought leadership, I have employed Hazel and Prompt on a number of occasions. They can grasp and articulate complex products and industries and create a compelling proposition to stimulate audience interest. I would recommend Prompt to any company looking to launch a new business or entering a new market where smart, targeted PR is a critical part of the marketing mix.”

-Paul Johns, CMO Complinet (CA), Orchestria, Thomson Reuters

“Prompt worked with us, and gave us valuable advice about our target audiences, helped us work with the press and created excellent copywriting. The Prompt team has a strong process, works methodically, and delivers results. Working with Prompt, we have been featured in articles in The New York Times (more than once), Forbes, The Huffington Post, and many other local and radio media outlets and we’re very happy with the results. Prompt was also instrumental in creating a social media presence for us that resulted in a wide variety of inquiries and sales. The results have been both prolific and business meaningful for us. We’ve gotten a lot of business because of our marketing with Prompt.

We highly recommend Prompt – especially for young and fast growing startups. But also for any innovative companies looking to make their presence known.”

– Mitch Rosenberg, Co-Founder, KinderLab Robotics

“We were immediately impressed with Prompt’s ability to grasp and communicate complicated technology products and company offerings as well as their ability to interface with our executive team. Prompt delivered immediate high impact results.”

– Sham Sao, CMO, Virtual Computer/Citrix
